What is a Commonplace Book?
Commonplace books are a type of journal used to record favourite quotes, excerpts from books, poems, anecdotes, proverbs, wise sayings, lists, recipes, prayers and song lyrics.
Over the centuries, many great writers have kept commonplace books, including John Milton, George Eliot, E. M. Forster and Octavia Butler.
