Janice Hadlow on Love, Passion & Scandal in Regency England
Today I’m in conversation with the bestselling author, Janice Hadlow. Many of you will recognise Janice as the author of The Other Bennet Sister, a wonderful novel about Mary Bennet, the most overlooked of the Bennet sisters from Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.
With her latest novel, Rules of the Heart (published today!), Janice Hadlow returns to the world of Regency England, but this time she shares the true-life story of Lady Henrietta Bessborough, sister of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.

Henrietta, or Harriet as she was generally known, was unhappily married, and the great love of her life was Lord Granville, a man considerably younger than herself. Harriet and Granville had a passionate affair that lasted for seventeen years, and this love story is told with great compassion in Rules of the Heart.

If you’re interested in 18th Century England and the reality of women’s lives at the time, then you’ll find Rules of the Heart a fascinating, unforgettable read.
I had so much fun chatting with Janice about her latest book, and I hope you enjoy our conversation too.
